Commerce City, Colorado was founded in 1892 by the United Hebrew Cemetary Association. Many of the original cemetarys servicing the Commerce City and Denver metro area were originally founded in the Commerce City city limits, including Riverside Cemetary (which was founded in 1876). Until the turn of the 20th century, Commerce City was largely an agrarian society, growing wheat and producing dairy products.
